As part of a sensitive barn restoration, the clients wanted to create a seamless connection between the interior living space and the garden. The brief was for an inside–outside kitchen and bar area that would feel social, practical and visually striking — equally suited to everyday use and entertaining — while remaining sympathetic to the character of the building.
We designed the space as a single, continuous environment rather than separate indoor and outdoor zones. Layout, materials and finishes were carefully considered to ensure flow between the barn and garden. Bespoke elements were central to the design, including handmade concrete worktops and a custom island that anchors the space. Integrated appliances, a wood-fired oven and bar seating were positioned to keep cooking, hosting and conversation connected.
