The client wanted to create a comfortable outdoor space directly connected to the home — somewhere to enjoy morning coffee and evening dining while remaining protected from the elements. The garden itself is quite exposed, making wind a key factor, along with the need for shade during the summer months.
The space between the two external walls created a fixed opening, meaning the solution needed to be designed to fit the space exactly while working seamlessly with the existing architecture.
Off-the-shelf options quickly proved unsuitable, as the exact dimensions required — 2,470mm x 4,270mm x 2,310mm — simply weren’t available in standard products. A fully bespoke solution was therefore essential.
We designed a Renson Camargue pergola tailored exactly to the space, ensuring a precise, millimetre-perfect fit to the existing structure. Particular attention was given to the finish, with the pergola colour matched to the exact RAL of the existing window and door frames, allowing the structure to sit seamlessly against the home rather than appearing as an addition.
To address the exposed nature of the garden, sliding glass elements were incorporated to provide protection from wind, while remote-controlled integrated blinds offer adjustable shade during warmer months. This combination allows the space to adapt easily throughout the day and across seasons.
LOD managed the entire process from design through to installation, ensuring all elements were carefully coordinated and executed to a high standard.
The completed space feels like a natural extension of the home — visually aligned, precisely fitted and highly functional. It provides a sheltered setting for everyday use, from quiet mornings through to evening dining, while retaining the flexibility to open up when conditions allow.
What was once an exposed area is now a comfortable, usable outdoor room designed to work effortlessly in all conditions.
