The Brief

The aim of this project was to create a dedicated outdoor cooking and entertaining space, positioned away from the main house to make full use of the surrounding grounds.

Rather than simply adding an outdoor kitchen, the clients wanted a space that felt purposeful — somewhere they could comfortably spend more time outside, whether cooking for themselves or hosting friends and family.

Positioning the structure separately from the house was key. It allowed the space to feel like a destination within the garden, rather than just an extension of the property.

The design needed to strike the right balance between practicality and a clean, high-end finish, ensuring everything worked seamlessly together while still feeling relaxed and easy to use.

Our Approach

With our background in construction, we approached the project as a complete project rather than a collection of individual features.

The layout was carefully planned to ensure the kitchen worked efficiently for cooking and entertaining, with a U-shaped configuration and additional island providing ample preparation and serving space.

Groundworks formed a key part of the project. The area was fully prepared with excavation, a crushed concrete base and a poured concrete pad to ensure long-term stability — creating a solid foundation for everything that followed. This level of preparation is often what determines how well a space performs long term.

We also coordinated all electrical works alongside our trusted electrician, integrating lighting, appliances and power seamlessly into the design. Managing everything as one project meant the clients didn’t need to coordinate multiple trades, keeping the process straightforward and completely hassle-free.

The pergola structure was then installed to provide shelter and definition, creating a comfortable environment that can be used in a range of conditions, from bright summer days through to cooler evenings.

Materials and finishes were selected not only for their appearance, but for their durability and long-term performance.

The Result

The finished space offers a balance of functionality and atmosphere, creating a place that feels distinct from the main house while still being fully connected to how the clients live.

It’s now a space they naturally gravitate towards — whether for everyday use or entertaining — with everything needed to cook, host and relax in one cohesive setting.

By combining thoughtful design with a construction-led approach and fully managed installation, the result is not just visually impactful, but built to perform and be enjoyed for years to come.
