How Much Does An Outdoor Kitchen Cost?
It is undoubtably the most asked question in this sector – How much does an outdoor kitchen cost?
It is also the hardest to answer because it really does all depend on the clients desires and needs from an outdoor kitchen. BUT this table was put together by Checkatrade showing that full outdoor kitchens tend to begin at roughly £4,000 and can range anything up to £50,000+.
Things to consider when planning an outdoor kitchen:
1. Cost
2. Available Space
3. Type of use
1. Cost
Of course, there are many retailers and dealers un the UK that supply a massive range of outdoor living equipment including outdoor kitchen appliances, furniture and accessories.
This gives the option to DIY and source everything yourself or bring in the professionals and have everything from initial design to final product completed for you.
It is clear which option would be more budget friendly, especially if you, or someone you know, has a bit of a knack for these things. A DIY outdoor kitchen project is absolutely worth a go!
However, if you’re more of a ‘master of the grill’ and less so of a drill, probably best to seek the help of an outdoor living space designer. Many companies, such as ourselves, have an inhouse designer to bring your dream outdoor space from a vague plan in your mind to a completed masterpiece.
Often one of the biggest expenses of an outdoor kitchen is the grill/BBQ. With so many to choose from, we have put together a Guide to Choosing the Right BBQ.
Another consideration in terms of cost is, do you want an enclosed outdoor entertaining area for use all year round or is outdoor living more of a fair-weather thing in your household? From simple ridged wooden structures, that are more of a decorative feature, to state-of-the-art app controlled rotating louvered roof pergolas; the choice is yours! Again, the budget (or lack of one in some lucky cases) will be a big determining factor.

2. Available Space
Definitely an important consideration when designing an outdoor entertaining area. However, whether you have acres of space or a small retreat area tucked neatly up to the house, all spaces have massive potential with the right design.
Using the most high-tech configurating software, designers can simply take a photo of your space and format a design to encompass all of your needs and desires to create your dream outdoor oasis (with your budget in mind of course!) Choose anything from a simple but functional grill and worktop to a fully-fledged alfresco cooking and dining area.
3. Type Of Use
If entertaining isn’t your style and you’re looking for a small cozy sanctuary in your own garden then spending £50,000+ on a huge dining area just wouldn’t make sense or be cost effective (unless that’s really what you wanted…). However, if you want to be the ‘host with the most’ then absolutely, interacting and entertaining needs to be central to the design!
An outside bar is always a popular feature when creating an outdoor living space as we all know that BBQing and drinking go hand-in-hand (especially for us Brits!) so be sure to consider this when configuring your space. Again, a bar is an added feature so will likely increase the cost.
The possibilities are endless really! Do you have an idea in mind or have a blank canvas that you want to maximize the use of? We’d love to hear from you!
